This is my submission for the GMTK Game Jam 2020.  I made it alone in 48h.
The theme was "Out Of Control". so I decided to go for an old fashion shooter where you can (and must) abandon control over your spaceship.

How to pilot the Falcon?

Move:     W A S D
Shoot:     Mouse Left
Hyper Beam:     Mouse Right
Get Into Trance:     Ctrl
Regain Control:      Ctrl

While in trance, the Falcon goes totally crazy.
It will act randomly and eventually cause your death. But this is the only way to charge up the energy needed to use the almighty hyper beam, without which you can't finish enemies off.


Known bugs

- Movements may break after regaining control of the ship. If you're locked into a direction, try pressing that direction once (rather than the opposite) to fix it.
- Many things are not reinitialized correctly after restarting the game
- Full Screen is unusable: it takes all the width of the screen rather than the height
-If you're too much out of screen when enemies spawn, they might spawn outside the game area. This will basically break everything and block your ship against a border of the screen.


Would have been awesome

- Some Sound Design. é_è
- More interesting enemies that won't let you safely get into trance if you don't neutralize them first with basic bullets


- UPDATE -

I wasn't satisfied with the game as it was after the jam, so I put some extra work to fix the main bugs, add sound design and make everything more juicy.

The submission without any improvement is still available for download.

I like the idea of having to sacrifice control for power, I think there are a lot of cool ways to run with that idea. Great submission. I noticed after I regained control that my ship would constantly drift to the right or left btw.

Yeah it seems like it goes in the opposite direction you try to go in
